What's On
TAIGH/TŶ/TEACH
Written by Eva O’Connor, Màiri Morrison, and Mared Llywelyn Williams. Directed by Muireann Kelly.
Taigh/Tŷ/Teach is a major, tri-lingual co-production of a new site-specific piece written by Màiri Morrison (Scotland), Eva O’Connor (Ireland) and Mared Llywelyn Williams (Wales). The play is performed in Irish, Gaelic and Welsh with English subtitles.
‘Taigh’ in Gaelic, ‘Tŷ’ in Welsh and ‘Teach’ in Irish. The same meaning in three languages: ‘House’. The centre of our world, it’s a place for family, for gathering, for music. A place for mourning and for celebration, for playing and for belonging. But it’s a place under threat, with second home ownership, rising rents and lack of affordable housing impacting our communities and our languages. Three houses, three communities and three stories unfolding, each reflecting the challenges shared by the three countries and the people at the heart of them.

The Humours of Bandon
by Margaret Mc Auliffe ‘Don’t be afraid of that floor, hammer it!’ Annie is a 16-year-old Irish Dancer from Dublin and we meet her on the eve of the biggest competition of her life, the Irish Open Championships 1999. She charts us through the various successes and disappointments of her Irish Dancing life. We share her mind-numbing commitment and burning desire to win the coveted Irish Open title. Will she win and, if so, in what way? A coming-of-age story, The Humours of Bandon is an award-winning play, full of heart, humour and wisdom, for anyone who had a childhood passion that threatened to overwhelm their life. KING
by Pat Kinevane King tells the story of Luther, who only leaves his apartment for essential journeys, and to perform as an Elvis impersonator. The play explores prejudice, privilege, and resilience, as Luther struggles to live life to the full. Fishamble and Pat Kinevane have previously collaborated on FORGOTTEN, SILENT, UNDERNEATH, and BEFORE, which have won major international awards. Now, Fishamble and Pat Kinevane, under the direction of Jim Culleton, and with music by Denis Clohessy, return with this very special fifth solo play. King had a national tour throughout Ireland in 2023, and was presented at Assembly Dance Base in Edinburgh Festival Fringe in August 2023. |
