Fishamble Theatre Company
Fishamble: The New Play Company is delighted to announce the 4th annual New Writing Award at the ABSOLUT Dublin Fringe Festival.
Presented to the best play by a new or emerging Irish (or Irish-based) playwright premiered during ABSOLUT Fringe, the Fishamble New Writing Award includes the prize of a scholarship place on one of Fishamble’s acclaimed playwriting courses, dramaturgical support and a stipend of €1,000 towards the playwright’s next play, generously sponsored by Fishamble: The New Play Company.
In the consideration of this award, the idea of new writing is interpreted broadly and ABSOLUT Fringe artists have been encouraged to consider submitting new works in the area of dance, performance art, music, multi-author, post-dramatic works and so on.
Previous recipients of this coveted award are Shona McCarthy for “Married to the Sea”, Elaine Murphy for “Little Gem”, and Grace Dyas for “Rough”.
CRITERIA FOR ELIGIBILITY:
To be eligible for consideration in the Fishamble New Writing Award, writers must:
- be a new / developing / emerging writer
- be Irish or based in Ireland
- submit their play to Fishamble by 30th August (tbc)
